Evidence-Backed Verification™ evaluates the available evidence presented through approved verification pathways. It does not constitute a legal finding, judicial determination, or guarantee of historical completeness. The absence of confirmation through one pathway does not necessarily invalidate a submitted Professional Claim. Additional evidence may support or clarify the claim through alternative pathways.

Public Trust Is Becoming More Valuable Than Public Exposure

By Olivia (Von Steinberg) Roach · Founder, Reputation Economy Foundry™
What Makes Credence Different

Credence Reputation Server™ solves a problem that LinkedIn, Google, and data broker sites never addressed: most public professional records are self-reported, unverified, and often inaccurate — yet they directly influence hiring, business, and public trust. We launched as a pilot with a small cohort of professionals across law, healthcare, faith leadership, and media to test one core question: would verified, evidence-backed credentials hold more weight than a polished social profile? They did. The solution is a structured verification process where credentials are reviewed by a human team, a unique Verified Account Number (VAN) is issued, and the member receives a downloadable digital ID card — so trust can be confirmed in seconds, by anyone, anywhere, with no platform login required.

For more than two decades, society was encouraged to share more information online.

Social media platforms promised connection.

Search engines promised discoverability.

Data brokers promised convenience.

The result was an unprecedented transfer of personal information into the public domain.

What many individuals failed to realize was that every profile, post, comment, address, photograph, relationship, and digital interaction became part of a growing commercial ecosystem.

Entire industries emerged around collecting, aggregating, packaging, selling, and reselling information about individuals.

Many of these organizations became highly profitable.

The individuals supplying the information often received nothing in return.

Even more concerning is the fact that many data aggregation services include disclosures stating that information may contain inaccuracies, omissions, outdated records, or errors.

Yet those records can influence hiring decisions, business relationships, professional opportunities, housing applications, and public perception.

The Information Age rewarded visibility.

The next era may reward discretion.

Professionals are increasingly recognizing that public exposure and public trust are not the same thing.

In fact, excessive exposure may create new risks.

Identity theft.

Deepfakes.

Synthetic identities.

Fraud.

Reputation attacks.

Data broker inaccuracies.

Professional impersonation.

As artificial intelligence becomes more accessible, the value of trusted information is increasing.

At the same time, the value of privacy is increasing.

People are beginning to ask a different question.

Rather than asking how much information they can share, they are asking how much information they should share.

This shift may represent one of the defining characteristics of the emerging Reputation Economy™.

The future may not belong to those who disclose everything.

The future may belong to those who can selectively share verified information while maintaining meaningful control over their privacy.

Public trust is becoming more valuable.

Privacy is becoming more valuable.

And evidence-supported credibility may become one of the most important assets professionals possess.

Perhaps the failed experiment was never social media itself.

Perhaps the experiment was believing that unlimited public exposure would automatically create trust.

It did not.

Trust still has to be earned.

And increasingly, it must be verified.
