Evidence-Backed Verification™ evaluates the available evidence presented through approved verification pathways. The absence of confirmation through one pathway does not necessarily invalidate a submitted Professional Claim. Additional evidence may support or clarify the claim through alternative pathways.

Privacy Policy

Overview

Credence Reputation Server™ (the “Service”), operated by Reputation Economy Foundry™ (“Credence,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), is a professional evidence registry that helps individuals and organizations document and preserve the evidence behind their professional reputation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is shared, and the choices you have.

By creating an account, submitting a profile, or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Identity and contact details — full name, email address, professional title, organization, and location.
  • Profile and biography content you submit, including website links and supporting references.
  • Evidence materials — uploaded documents (certifications, credentials, press, awards, service records) and links you provide to support a claim.
  • Consent selections — your choices for evidence retention, public display, and source contact.
  • Self-reported LinkedIn profile URL, when you choose to provide it for professional identity cross-reference.

Information collected automatically

  • Account credentials and authentication data managed securely by the platform authentication provider.
  • Limited usage data such as hashed IP indicators and request metadata, used for security, audit logging, and abuse prevention. We do not store raw IP addresses.
  • Cookies and similar local storage entries used to remember your session and consent choices.
How We Use Information
  • To verify professional claims against the evidence you submit and publish verified records.
  • To operate member accounts, deliver member resources, and provide verification notifications.
  • To maintain an auditable record of verification activity for integrity and compliance.
  • To provide optional public profile visibility, VAN™ lookup, and reputation query features when you consent to them.
  • To communicate with you about your submissions, account, and platform updates.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
LinkedIn and Third-Party Identity Services

You may optionally provide a LinkedIn profile URL so Credence can cross-reference your professional identity during verification. When you provide it, we retrieve only the public profile information necessary to confirm identity (such as the name and headline shown on the public profile) and store a summary of that check with your submission. Credence does not post to LinkedIn on your behalf, does not access your LinkedIn connections or private messages, and does not use LinkedIn data for advertising.

Where Credence offers an authenticated LinkedIn integration, access is requested through official LinkedIn APIs using the least-permissive scope available for the verification task (for example, identity verification). You may disconnect the integration at any time, and we will cease further data retrieval. LinkedIn’s own privacy practices govern data you share with LinkedIn; this policy governs how Credence handles data after it is received.

Credence is not affiliated with LinkedIn. “LinkedIn” is a trademark of LinkedIn Corporation.

Evidence Handling and Retention

Uploaded evidence is stored securely and is never sold. Access to evidence files is restricted to authorized administrators and to you. Evidence marked sensitive or suspected of being classified or restricted is quarantined and blocked from release until an authorized administrator completes screening. Files are retained according to your consent selections and applicable record-keeping requirements. You may request deletion of your evidence at any time, subject to legitimate audit and legal-hold obligations.

How We Share Information
  • Public records: when you consent to public visibility, your verified profile and selected verified details are displayed on the Credence directory and may be indexed by search engines.
  • Verification partners: with employer verification contacts you authorize, limited to confirming the details you submitted.
  • Service providers: trusted infrastructure providers that help us operate the Service, under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal and safety: where required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or integrity of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Your Choices and Rights
  • Access, correct, or update your profile and evidence submissions.
  • Request deletion of your records, subject to audit and legal obligations.
  • Control public visibility and whether verified details appear on the directory.
  • Withdraw consent for evidence retention or public display at any time.
  • Opt out of having your information shared or indexed via our Privacy Opt-Out page.
  • Disconnect any third-party integration (including LinkedIn) at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, use the Privacy Opt-Out page or contact us through the Contact page.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including restricted access controls, hashed identifiers in audit logs, quarantine procedures for sensitive uploads, and administrative release controls for evidence packets. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data consistent with applicable requirements.

Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Credence Reputation Server™ is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and does not provide consumer reports. We do not compile criminal, arrest, or credit data, and our verification is not an employment background check. Information from Credence should not be used as the sole factor in eligibility decisions.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a minor has provided information, please contact us so we can delete it.

International Users

Credence is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information is processed in the U.S. and handled under this policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. We will revise the “Effective” date above and, where material, notify members through the Service or by email.
